24 women general managers talk about their career paths
To mark International Women’s Day and the anniversary of WAAG, AccorHotels’ gender equality network which now has almost 5,000 members, the Group is publishing 24 profiles of women who have recently been appointed hotel general managers. Coming from a variety of backgrounds and career paths, all have demonstrated their dedication to customer service. Meet Kirsten Guill who secured the position of hotel manager when six months pregnant, or Susan Anthony who every morning greets all 155 members of her team by their first name.
Currently accounting for almost 30% of women hotel general managers, the Group, working alongside HeForShe, is aiming to reach 35% by the end of 2017. Through its gender equality network WAAG, its involvement with HeForShe and its Talent & Culture policy, the Group is committed to ensuring, on a daily basis, that gender equality exists for everyone and at all levels of the business.

AccorHotels joins forces with SapoCycle to recycle soap from its French hotels
Building on a successful collaboration between the Group’s hotels in Switzerland and the SapoCycle Foundation, AccorHotels is expanding the program to recycle discarded soap to its hotels in France. Volunteer hotel staff collect and then send the soap to SapoCycle. Several charities, notably the Swiss Red Cross, distribute the recycled soap to the homeless and people in need in Europe and Africa. Five hotels in France have already begun collecting discarded soap for SapoCycle and 15 others have expressed their interest in joining the program. Created in 2014, the Swiss SapoCycle Foundation distributed 1,700 kg of recycled soap in 2016 and expects to distribute at least 2,000 kg during the first half of 2017. The Foundation works with organizations that support the employment of disabled people. With this new partnership, more than 220 hotels in 15 countries under the AccorHotels banner have committed to recycling their soap. This policy is part of Planet 21, the Group’s sustainable development program, which supports hotels with their local community and charity projects. On average, a hotel with 150 rooms and an occupancy rate of 70% wastes up to 300kg of soap per year. According to the WHO, 1.5 million children die each year from diarrhea and respiratory diseases, mainly caused by lack of access to and education about hygiene.
Valentine’s Day, when the Sofitel, MGallery by Sofitel and Pullman hotels celebrate love
Paris, the City of Love… The capital’s Sofitel, MGallery by Sofitel and Pullman hotels are also celebrating this very special day and are proposing a variety of offers for all lovers everywhere: the chance to enjoy a romantic evening in exceptional settings. At the Sofitel Paris Le Faubourg, the Chef will prepare a special dinner that will certainly awaken the tastebuds, with a dessert evocatively named “Puits d’amour à la passion”. At the Echiquier Opéra Paris, the special cocktail “The Valentine’s Spirit”, which comes with strawberries and macarons, sounds like a hymn to love. It can be enjoyed at the hotel bar, a cocoon of singular art deco luxury. The Hotel Paris Bastille Boutet is giving the chance for guests to enjoy a romantic interlude with a special offer for the occasion: a room with breakfast, a bottle of champagne during the stay along with rose petals and a mystery gift, as well as a late check-out at 2pm. Lastly, for couples with an adventurous spirit, the Pullman Roissy Charles de Gaulle is inviting its guests to come and enjoy the Valentine’s Day menu created by Alexandre Willaume, the new Head Chef of the Culinaire Bazaar. For a different approach, the hotel is planning an explosive program: for every special Valentine’s Day “Love Cocktail” purchased, women will be able to use the Nail Bar provided to them for the occasion, and men will be able to watch the PSG/Barcelona match on a giant screen in the Bar, along with a TV platter. On Valentine’s Day, all guests will find something in our hotels to satisfy their partner.

Henri IV’s former hunting lodge, The Echiquier Opéra Paris, MGallery by Sofitel Hotel was completely refurbished in 2015. It is now a distinctive location evoking the spirit of the Belle Epoque, right in the heart of Paris. Since February 5, 2017, the Echiquier Opéra Paris, MGallery by Sofitel, has been inviting guests and locals alike, on the first Sunday of every month, to come and discover the Great Brunch Buffet in the Bar Lounge under the hotel’s legendary glass roof. This room is steeped in the charm of the Roaring Twenties: furnished with sumptuous easy chairs, chairs and couches in woven rattan, spectacular plants and huge mirrors coming together to provide a décor inspired by winter conservatories of times gone by. On the menu for this celebration inspired brunch, customers can enjoy a wide selection of mini pastries, pancakes, crêpes, brioches and other assortments of breads, a cold buffet and hot dishes, a selection of ripened cheeses as well as a delicious assortment of sweet treats including the hotel’s signature dessert: cinnamon cake, inspired by the history of the location. King Henri IV was a great fan of this spice which he imported in large quantities for the entire court. The Chef also ventures into the dining area to present a masterclass dedicated to celebrating the egg in all its forms and for the slicing of the Iberian Bellota Ham. Finally, customers can choose from hot drinks and fresh fruit juices, or enjoy wine and champagne from the menu. To enhance this experience, a pianist is on hand to play throughout the meal.

Alexandre Willaume: a new Chef in the kitchens of the Culinaire Bazaar.
Alexandre Willaume, a Chef with an exceptional career, is now in charge of the kitchens at the Culinaire Bazaar, Hotel Pullman Roissy Charles de Gaulle’s restaurant. There, international guests and local businesspeople alike can enjoy a cuisine that reflects the Chef’s personality. He will take them on a journey through a lavish, modern and colorful gastronomic universe, influenced by his extensive travels, notably in South-East Asia. His secret? Combining the menu’s leading ingredients – beef, chicken and fish – with both regional and global flavors. The restaurant’s open show-kitchen means the Chef and his team can share a special experience with their guests. Mercure opens elegant Hyde Park Townhouse Hotel
Mercure Hotels has opened the doors of its latest London property end of year 2016. The 4-star hotel Mercure London Hyde Park is located in the London hotspot between Paddington and Lancaster Gate. Overlooking a peaceful garden, the hotel is just moments away from the beautiful green open space of iconic Hyde Park and the renowned shopping destinations of Knightsbridge and the West End.

Ibis and the Naïve New Beaters show the flip side of fame
Since 2015, the ibis brand has been completely revitalized. Its “Rich & Famous” communication campaign and the partnership with Universal Music have strengthened this new positioning – that of a hotel brand where something is always happening, with a commitment to ultra-attentive service. This time, ibis is showcasing the band Naïve New Beaters in the short film “Do not Disturb,” available since January 25, 2017 via an extensive digital program and a partnership with Konbini.
Directed by Raphaël Frydman and created by the agency BETC, this film shows the group’s everyday life on their return from a triumphant yet exhausting tour, putting down their bags in the ibis Porte de Clichy for a break lasting an indefinite time… The ibis teams do all they can for the three artists to restore their zest for life, and they end the film by going back on tour, rejuvenated and ready to give their best to their fans. A live event from ibis with a new dimension is said to be in the pipeline…
